Commonwealth War Graves Commission

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is dedicated to the commemoration of the 1.7 million men and women from the Commonwealth who lost their lives in the two world wars.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission will be leading a service at Bayeux Cathedral and a candlelit vigil at the Bayeux War Cemetery on 05th June.


National Memorial Arboretum

The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire is the Nation’s year-round place to remember; it helps people to reflect and to be inspired, providing a space to celebrate lives lived and commemorate lives lost in service.

A D-Day 80 remembrance service will be hosted by the Royal British Legion at the National Memorial Arboretum on 6 June at 2pm.


Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is the lead UK Government department for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June 2024.

The MOD will work with a range of organisations to host events for veterans, their families, Armed Forces personnel and members of the public in June. These include official events in Portsmouth and at Bayeux War Cemetery, Bayeux Cathedral and the British Normandy Memorial.

With the Royal British Legion and the Normandy Memorial Trust, the Ministry of Defence will also host the UK’s national commemorative event at the British Normandy Memorial on 6 June.


Normandy Memorial Trust

The British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer is the only memorial in Normandy listing the names of all the 22,442 people who died under British command on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy.

With the Ministry of Defence and the Royal British Legion, the Normandy Memorial Trust will be hosting the national commemorative event at the British Normandy Memorial on 6 June.


Royal British Legion

Established in 1921, the Royal British Legion is the UK’s largest Armed Forces charity, with 180,000 members.

The Royal British Legion will host a commemorative event at Bayeux War Cemetery 5 June and, with the Ministry of Defence and Normandy Memorial Trust, the national event the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer on 6 June.

The Royal British Legion will also host a D-Day 80 remembrance service at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on 6 June at 2pm.
